Handa raw makipag-usap si Pangulong Bongbong Marcos kay dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte hinggil sa umano’y secret deal nito kay Chinese President Xi Jinping sa West Philippine Sea.

Sinabi ito ni Marcos nang kumpirmahin umano ng China na may nangyaring gentleman’s agreement sa administrasyon ni Duterte.

Sa isang panayam sa mga Manila-based reporters sa Washington, DC, sinabi ng Pangulo na nais niyang linawin kung mayroon nga bang kasunduan, kung ano ang nilalaman nito, at kung bakit umano ito inililihim.

“So, now, with the confirmation of the Chinese Embassy, we now know that there was a secret agreement. Now, the second question that I have, is what is contained in the second agreement?” aniya nitong Biyernes, Abril 12.

“Ano ba ang pinangako ng Duterte administration sa China? Ngayon lang tayo nakakatiyak na mayroon talagang, mayroon pala talagang agreement,” ayon pa kay Marcos.

Dagdag pa niya, “Tawag nila is gentleman’s agreement, tawag ko diyan, secret agreement.”

Ayon kay Marcos, naguguluhan siya sa “secret agreement” na diumano’y ginawa ni Duterte kay Xi sa Ayungin Shoal. Nagtataka rin umano siya kung bakit nagpasya umano ang dating pangulo, isang experienced lawyer, na hindi i-dokumento o itala ang naturang kasunduan.

Dahil dito, handa raw siyang makipag-usap kay Duterte para pag-usapan ang foreign policy at mga kasunduang pinasok ng gobyerno kaugnay sa South China Sea.

“Send them to me and then we’ll sit down. Send those documents to me. And then I’ll sit down and discuss it. I’ll do my homework for him,” sabi ni Marcos.

“So send me the materials, personally to me. Marami kaming common na kaibigan. Send them to me. Pag-aralan ko. Mag-usap kami kung gusto n’ya,” dagdag pa niya.

Sinabi rin ng Pangulo na hindi siya sang-ayon sa ideya na pumasok sa isang secret agreement sa China dahil maaari raw makompromiso ang soberanya ng bansa.

“Any agreement with another sovereign state should be known by the people, by the elected officials, and by the Senate, which ratifies treaties entered into by the government,” ani Marcos.

“It should be known by the local officials. It should be known by everyone. Because in that way you can… you are accountable. If it’s a bad decision, you’re accountable,” dagdag pa niya.
