Isang medical mission ang idinaos ng Department of Justice (DOJ) nitong Lunes para sa babaeng persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) na nakapiit sa Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) sa Mandaluyong City.

Nabatid na ang naturang aktibidad ay isinagawa ng DOJ, katuwang ang iba pang organisasyon, nagkaloob sila ng libreng consultations, screenings, at access sa medical professionals para sa mga lady PDL ng CIW.

Labis naman ang pasalamat ng Mandaluyong City Government sa DOJ at mga partners nito dahil sa pagdaraos ng naturang aktibidad.

Ayon kay Dr. Arnold Abalos, na siyang kumatawan kay Mandaluyong Mayor Benjamin Abalos, ang lahat ay may karapatan na magkaroon ng access sa maaasahan at libreng pangangalagang pangkalusugan.

Aniya, “We thank the DOJ and its partners for their unwavering commitment to catering to the needs of our women PDLs here at CIW.”

Sa isang pahayag, sinabi naman ni Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin ‘Boying’ Remulla na, “This initiative goes beyond just providing healthcare; it promotes and restores the dignity of women behind bars. Justice can be delivered in the health and well-being of those in the walls of prison, as well.”

Nabatid na ang medical mission ay pinangunahan ni Justice Undersecretary Margarita Gutierrez, na nagsabing sila sa DOJ ay naniniwala na ang mga PDLs ay entitled rin sa makataong pagtrato at serbisyo.

“We, at the DOJ, believe that these PDLs are not bad people. They are people who just made bad decisions in life. They are entitled to humane treatment and services with which they can reform and rejoin our communities as productive members,” ani Gutierrez.

Pinasalamatan din ni Gutierrez ang mga ka-partner nilang private at civil sectors dahil sa tulong nila ay naging posible at matagumpay ang naturang aktibidad.
