“The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift,” ani Jo Koy.

“It felt like some of the jokes fell flat. That’s a lot of pressure. And I’d be lying if it doesn’t hurt. It’s a tough gig, I have a stand-up comic, but that hosting position, it’s a different style, you know, it’s not the same style,” anang komedyante.

It’s a joke.”

"The guy has one bad day and suddenly he goes from Pinoy Pride to Pinoy Shame. He drops the ball once, and suddenly Pinoys drop him just like that. Never mind that he has promoted Filipino life and culture in every single Netflix show he has had," aniya sa kaniyang social media post noong Enero 9, 2024.
"Never mind that he has vocally dedicated his life’s work to helping other Pinoys make it as well in the US entertainment arena. He has been fighting tooth and nail for years for any kind of Filipino representation. He even wore the Philippine flag in one of his first gigs at The Tonight Show in 1989."
"In his LA Netflix Special, he tells the story of how Netflix rejected him several times and how he had to deal with racism about the Filipino accent - breaking into tears as he recounts it. 'Not everybody gets the same shake' he says. So now that he’s through the door, everybody gets through the door."
Sa pagpapatuloy, "Jo Koy is at his best when he is allowed to talk about the thing he is most passionate about. In this case, it’s the culture and country he came from. The real shame here is every Filipino who has been bashing him for having a bad day. A bad day that was just 10 days in the making for a gig nobody wanted. For context on why 10 days is simply not enough, Jimmy Kimmel prepares for about six months for the Oscars."
"Jo Koy is suddenly vilified because some rich, white girl can’t take a joke about her love life. In an event, mind you, wherein the hosts have historically roasted the celebrities in the audience. Such a brittle spirit for one who is supposed to be a shining beacon of empowerment. That right there is the real joke."
Sa panghuli, sinabi ni Cabrera ang pahayag na "Shame on all of you."
"I'm seeing people use the gender card and dropping that 'A man is allowed to react...' quote, unfortunately, gender was really not in play in that Taylor Swift joke. However, her reaction reeked of Hollywood conceit - 'I'm more famous and richer than you, Asian guy.'"
"That's the reason why I put more emphasis on RICH and WHITE rather than girl. The gender card doesn't work there. She obviously has money, power, and is white. The trifecta of a person who is allowed to react."
"However, that string of Barbie jokes was cringingly gender-charged. It not only fell flat, it was offensive. He knew better than to unleash those. But it felt like he was grasping at straws already."
