Hindi pa rin natitinag ang Pilipinas kaugnay ng usapin sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Ito ang iginiit ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. kasabay ng kautusan nito sa militar na magpakita ng tapang at tibay sa pagtataguyod ng paninindigan sa teritoryo ng bansa.
Sa kanyang talumpati sa ika-88 anibersaryo ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) nitong Huwebes, binanggit ni Marcos na sa kabila ng ilang beses na pagtatangka at pag-uudyok, nananatili pa ring nagbibigay ng mabuting halimbawa ang militar sa pagresolba ng usapin alinsunod sa international law.
“We shall continue to assert our rights in accordance with the Philippine Constitution and international law. The recent incidents involving no less than our AFP Chief of Staff is worrisome,” banggit ni Marcos kaugnay ng nakaraang pambobomba ng tubig ng China Coast Guard sa isa sa mga supply boat ng Pilipinas kung saan nakasakay si AFP chief Gen. Romeo Brawner, Jr.
