Nagbitiw sa puwesto ang national director ng Miss Universe Nicaragua na si Karen Celebertti, ilang linggo matapos manalo si Nicaraguan beauty queen Sheynnis Palacios sa nagdaang 72nd Miss Universe.
Sa isang Facebook post nitong Miyerkules, Disyembre 13, kinumpirma ng Miss Universe Organization na natanggap nila ang pagbibitiw ni Celebertti bilang national director ng Nicaragua ngayon lamang linggo.
“Karen and her team have gone above and beyond the requirements of any franchisee, and we stand by our partners in asserting the transparency and integrity of their pageant. Her professionalism and love for the women she works with speak for themselves. She has asked fans to highlight Nicaragua's first international win as an achievement free of politics and regional distinctions, to be celebrated by all of the country and the world,” pahayag ng organisasyon sa naturang post.
“We agree: Sheynnis Palacios is a remarkable woman, and we’re glad to call her our Miss Universe 2023.”

“Going forward, we are seeking a peaceful resolution of the issues raised by the country of Nicaragua, as well as the safety of everyone associated with the organization. We hope that the country will continue to come together and support Sheynnis and Karen as they advocate for a future forged by women – and to celebrate the beautiful culture and people of Nicaragua,” saad pa nito.
Samantala, nag-post din si Celebertti sa kaniyang Instagram account hinggil sa Miss Universe at sa bansang Nicaragua.
“Con amor a toda Mi Nicaragua, hasta pronto, Karen Celebertti (With love to all My Nicaragua, see you soon),” ani Celebertti sa kaniyang post kalakip ang larawan ng isang korona at mga salitang “Miss Nicaragua.”
Ayon sa Miss Universe Organization, sa ngayon ay wala pa umano itong bagong franchise partner mula sa bansang Nicaragua.
Matatandaang napabalita kamakailan na pinagbawalan umano ng gobyerno ng Nicaragua na makabalik sa kanilang bansa si Celebertti at kaniyang anak matapos ang pagkapanalo ni Palacios, na itinuturing umano bilang simbolo ng oposisyon ng gobyerno ng kanilang bansa.
