Idineklara ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang huling working day ng buwan ng Nobyembre bilang “National Bike-to-Work Day.”

Sa Proclamation No. 409 na nilagdaan ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, inihayag ng pangulo na layon ng naturang deklarasyon na isulong ang “balanced and healthful ecology" alinsunod sa ritmo ng kalikasan.

Bukod dito, nilalayon din umano ng “National Bike-to-Work Day” na balansehin ang “development” at “environmental protection,” at mapanatili ang kalidad ng hangin na nagpoprotekta sa kalusugan at kapakanan ng bawat indibidwal.

“The Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 underscores the need to develop active transport network, and accord the highest priority to pedestrians and cyclists in the hierarchy of road users,” nakasaad sa proklamasyon.

“The post-pandemic ‘New Normal’ requires the adoption of measures to enable safe, independent, physically-distanced travel, especially for essential workers, so that the country is better prepared in the event of another health emergency,” dagdag pa nito.

Kaugnay nito, naatasan ang Inter-Agency Technical Working Group on Active Transport (IATWG-AT) ng Department of Health (DOH) na manguna sa pagsasagawa ng mga aktibidad sa pagdiriwang ng National Bike-to-Work Day.
