Inanunsyo ni Paula Shugart ang kaniyang pagbibitiw bilang presidente ng Miss Universe Organization (MOU) matapos ang mahigit 20 taon ng kaniyang panunungkulan sa naturang posisyon.
Sa gitna ng kaniyang talumpati matapos ang Miss Universe National Costume Show sa El Salvador nitong Biyernes, Nobyembre 17, inihayag ni Paula na huling show na niya bilang pangulo ng MOU sa Sabado, Nobyembre 18, 2023 (Nobyembre 19, Philippine time), kung kailan gaganapin ang coronation night ng 72nd Miss Universe.
Ilang buwan na rin umano ang nakalilipas nang mapag-isipan at mapagdesisyunan ni Paula ang naturang pagbibitiw sa pwesto.
“I can think of no better place than in this beautiful country on this magnificent stage, to announce the end of my tenure as the President of Miss Universe. I have decided this Saturday will be my last show and to be clear, this decision has been months in the making and is not in response to recent events,” ani Paula sa kaniyang talumpati.

Samantala, inanunsyo na rin ng MOU ang naturang pagbibitiw ni Paula bilang presidente ng organisasyon sa pamamagitan ng isang Instagram story nito ring Biyernes.
“It is with heave hearts and crowns that we announce our President, Paula Shugart, is stepping down after Satuday’s show, after 23 years,” pahayag ng MOU.
“On stages from Manila to El Salvador, not to mention conference rooms in every city imaginable, Paula has been our rock, guiding light, and number one fan.”
“Paula, we’re going to miss you so much, but we can’t wait to see what’s next on your incredible journey,” saad pa ng organisasyon.
