Ikinatuwa ng Akbayan Party ang naging pagsuko ni Vice President at Department of Education (DepEd) Sara Duterte sa hiling na confidential funds ng kaniyang mga tanggapan na Office of the Vice President (OVP) at DepEd para sa 2024.
Matatandaang inihayag ni Duterte noong Huwebes, Nobyembre 9, na hindi na nila iaapela ang ₱650 milyong pinagsamang confidential funds ng OVP at DepEd dahil lilikha lamang umano ito ng pagkakawatak-watak ng sambayanan.
“We will no longer pursue the Confidential Funds. Why? Because this issue is divisive, and as the Vice President, I swore an oath to keep the country peaceful and strong,” pahayag ni Duterte.

“Akbayan Party joins the Filipino people, as we collectively stand vindicated as Vice President Sara Duterte finally abandons her cloak-and-dagger, James Bond-esque confidential fund which has been proven to be indefensible, unwarranted and prone to abuse. Vice President Duterte's espionage-style financial maneuvers didn't survive the spotlight of transparency and accountability,” saad naman na Akbayan nitong Biyernes, Nobyembre 10.
“This is a clear triumph of the people! It underscores the power of public scrutiny over the likes of Vice President Duterte and her minions. This is what we can do when we all come together. This is a resounding testament to the public's commitment to uphold truth and accountability in the highest echelons of power,” dagdag pa nito.
Samantala, nanawagan din ang Akbayan sa mga Pilipino na patuloy umanong maging mapagmatyag hanggang sa matapos na ang proseso para sa 2024 national budget.
“As the curtains fall on Vice President Duterte's tragic fiscal drama, it is clear that the lights of truth and accountability are the best defense against any possible abuse of the nation's coffers. Let us build upon what was won today and keep our eyes open,” anang Akbayan.
