Binalaan ng Department of Agriculture (DA) ang publiko laban sa mapanganib na frozen meat sa merkado.
Pinayuhan ng ahensya ang mga mamimili na hanapin muna ang tatak ng National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) upang matiyak na ligtas ang bibilhing karne.
Paliwanag naman ni DA Undersecretary Deogracias Victor Savellano, delikado sa kalusugan ang mga karneng hindi dumaan sa inspeksyon ng ahensya.
“This is dangerous to human health. Shoppers should look for the NMIS food safety seal and of local government unit’s slaughterhouse documents. Imported frozen meat is not the problem, but their handling as fresh food in wet markets,” banggit ng opisyal.
Nakikipag-ugnayan na aniya sila sa Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) upang mawala sa mga wet market ang mga nasabing karne.
Binanggit din ni Savellano na bawal itinda sa wet market ang mga frozen meat alinsunod na rin sa DA Administrative Order 6-2012.
“Frozen meat should only be confined to hotels, restaurants, and supermarkets which have the refrigeration facilities and handling expertise,” pahayag pa ng opisyal.
