Hindi na ipupursige ni Vice President Sara Duterte ang panukalang ₱500 milyong confidential funds ng Office of the Vice President (OVP) para sa 2024, ayon kay Senador Sonny Angara.

Sa Senate plenary deliberation nitong Huwebes, Nobyembre 9, sinabi ni Angara na hindi na ipupursigi ni Duterte na magkaroon ang OVP ng confidential and intelligence funds (CIFs) sa susunod na taon dahil lilikha lamang umano ito ng pagkakawatak-watak ng sambayanan.

“We are in receipt of a statement from the Vice President. We discussed earlier and, according to her, the OVP can only propose a budget to support the safe implementation of its PAPs [programs, activities, and projects] to alleviate poverty and promote general welfare of each and every Filipino family,” ani Angara.

“Nonetheless, they will no longer pursue the CIFs of CFs, and the reason why, is because it seems to be divisive, and as the VP, she swore an oath to keep the country peaceful and strong,” dagdag pa niya.

Habang sinusulat ito’y hindi pa naman nabanggit kung ipupursigi pa ni Duterte ang ₱150 milyong panukalang confidential funds ng Department of Education (DepEd) para sa 2024.

Matatandaang napagdesisyunan ng Kamara kamakailan na isama ang panukalang 2024 confidential funds ng OVP at DepEd sa mga ililipat sa mga ahensyang nakatutok sa isyu ng West Philippine Sea (WPS).

Ang naturang desisyon ay matapos naging mainit na usap-usapan kamakailan ang kontrobersiyal na ₱125-million confidential funds ng OVP noong 2022 na nagastos umano sa loob ng 11 araw.
