Kinondena ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. ang naganap na pamamaril sa isang radio broadcaster sa Calamba, Misamis Occidental nitong Linggo ng umaga, Nobyembre 5, na humantong sa kamatayan.
"I condemn in the strongest terms the murder of broadcaster Juan Jumalon. I have instructed the PNP to conduct a thorough investigation to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice," anang PBBM sa kaniyang X post.
"Attacks on journalists will not be tolerated in our democracy, and those who threaten the freedom of the press will face the full consequences of their actions."

Sa police report, binaril ng hindi nakikilalang lalaki si Juan Jumalon o “Johnny Walker” habang nakasalang sa kaniyang programa sa 94.7 Calamba Gold FM sa mismong bahay nito sa Barangay Don Bernardo A. Neri nitong Nobyembre 5.
Kitang-kitang hinalgot pa ng suspek ang pendant ni Jumalon.
Isinugod pa rin sa Calamba District Hospital ang biktima kung saan binawian ng buhay dahil sa tama ng bala sa ilalim ng labi na tumagos sa kanyang batok.
Kaugnay nito, kinondena ng National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) ang insidente at sinabing ito na ang ika-199 kaso ng pagpatay sa mga mamamahayag mula noong 1986.
Bubuo na ng special investigation task force (SITF) ang pulisya na mag-iimbestiga sa pamamaslang.
