Inihayag ng Malacañang nitong Huwebes, Nobyembre 2, na ang mga isyu kaugnay ng West Philippine Sea (WPS) ang isa sa mga pag-uusapan nina Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. at Prime Minister Kishida Fumio sa pagbisita ng huli sa Maynila sa Biyernes, Nobyembre 3.

Sa ulat ng Presidential Communications Office (PCO), inihayag nito na ang mga isyu hinggil sa WPS at ang Official Development Assistance (ODA) ng Japan ang matatalakay sa official visit ni Fumio sa bansa mula Biyernes hanggang sa Sabado, Nobyembre 4.

Binanggit din nito ang pahayag ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) kung saan ang magiging “highlight” umano ng pagbisita ng prime minister ay ang nakatakdang bilateral meeting nila ni Marcos.

“Both leaders are expected to discuss the two countries’ multifaceted and dynamic cooperation on political and security cooperation and economic and people-to-people relations,” anang DFA.

“Among the specific issues to be discussed are the West Philippine Sea, trade and investment, and Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA). They will also exchange views on major regional, international, and United Nations issues affecting the region and the world,” dagdag pa nito.

Opisyal umanong tatanggapin ng pangulo si Fumio sa gaganaping ng welcoming ceremonies sa Malacañang sa Biyernes.

“Before the visit of Prime Minister Kishida to the Philippines, President Marcos undertook his official visit to Japan in February 2023, sealing $13 billion worth of agreements that were seen to yield thousands of jobs for Filipinos,” saad naman ng PCO.
