Dinipensahan ni Vice President at Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sara Duterte ang kontrobersiyal na confidential funds ng kaniyang tanggapan, at iginiit na ang mga taong kumukontra rito ay kumokontra umano sa kapayapaan.
Sa ginanap na Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Office 13's 122nd Police Service Anniversary sa Butuan City nitong Miyerkules, Oktubre 4, iginiit ni Duterte na mahalaga umano ang confidential and intelligence funds (CIFs) para sa “seguridad” ng bansa.
"Confidential funds play a vital role in maintaining security by providing the necessary resources to address unforeseen challenges swiftly and decisively," pahayag ni Duterte.
“Makinig kayo sa lahat ng sinasabi sa palibot ninyo at tandaan ninyo, kung sino man ang kumokontra sa confidential funds ay kumokontra sa kapayapaan. Kung sino ang kumokontra sa kapayapaan ay kalaban ng bayan,” saad pa niya.

Binigyang-diin din ng bise presidente na ang mga tao umanong “umaatake” sa pondong nakalaan para sa “peace and order” ay mayroon daw ibang hangarin.
"Anyone who attacks or undermines funds allocated for peace and order is naturally assumed to have insidious motivations,” giit ni Duterte.
“Such actions go against the protection and well-being of our citizenry. Those who seek to compromise the security and development of our nation jeopardize the very fabric of our society and hinder our progress.”
"We must remain vigilant and steadfast in our commitment to safeguarding our people and our nation," dagdag pa niya.
Samantala, binanggit ni Duterte ang pagiging miyembro ng DepEd sa Anti-Terrorist Council, maging ang pagiging miyembro niya sa National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, bilang pruweba umano ng “unwavering commitment” ng ahensya para maprotektahan ang mga estudyante, mga guro, at iba pang stakeholders nito.
“The safety and security of our people should never be limited by financial constraints or arbitrary timeframes. We must stand united against any attack on funds allocated for peace and order, as they threaten the protection and well-being of our citizenry,” saad ni Duterte.
Ang naturang mga pahayag ng bise presidente ay nangyari matapos ang napabalitang desisyon kamakailan ng Kongreso na aalisin na ang pinagsamang ₱650 milyong confidential funds ng Office of the Vice President (OVP) at DepEd para sa 2024, upang ilipat umano sa mga ahensyang nakatutok sa isyu ng West Philippine Sea (WPS).

Bago ito, isiniwalat kamakailan ni Marikina 2nd District Rep. Stella Quimbo na nagastos ng OVP ang kontrobersiyal na ₱125-million confidential funds nito noong 2022 sa loob ng 11 araw, mas maikling panahon kaysa sa naunang naiulat na 19 araw.

Samantala, iniulat din ng Commission on Audit (COA) kamakailan na ang lokal na pamahalaan ng Davao City sa panahon ng panunungkulan ni Duterte bilang alkalde, mula 2016 hanggang 2022, ay nakatanggap umano ng kabuuang ₱2.697 bilyong confidential funds, o tinatayang ₱460 milyon kada taon.
