Sinabi ni Senate Minority Leader Koko Pimentel na bukas siya sa mga panukalang suspindihin ang fuel excise tax dahil kailangan umano ng “lifeboat” ng mga Pilipino sa nakalulunod na presyo ng krudo.
"Nakakalunod na ang presyo ng krudo. Kailangan ng 'lifeboat' ng ating mga kababayan," pahayag ni Pimentel nitong Martes, Setyembre 19.

"Every week, our fellow Filipinos face the challenge of ever-increasing fuel prices. They need a lifeline now. I hope the government understands the gravity of the situation and the urgency of intervention to alleviate their hardship," pagbibigay-diin ng senador.
"Ang pagtaas ng presyo ng krudo ay papasanin pa rin sa bandang huli ng bawat isang Pilipino. The rising cost of crude oil will ultimately be borne by every Filipino because it leads to increased prices of goods, electricity, and more,” dagdag pa niya.
Ayon pa kay Pimentel, kung hindi mabibigyang-pansin ang pagtaas ng produktong petrolyo asahan umano ang pagtaas ng inflation rate sa bansa, na maaaing makaapekto sa mga Pilipino.
Dahil dito, bukas ang senador sa mga panukalasang suspindihin ang excise tax sa mga imported na langis at bio-ethanol.
"The suspension of the excise tax could offer a temporary respite and serve as an effective lifeboat for Filipinos struggling to cope with the sky-high fuel prices," aniya.
"From daily commuters to business operators, the skyrocketing prices of fuel products have impacted the everyday lives of the citizens.”
Nagtaas ng P2 kada litro ang gasoline at kerosene, at P2.50 naman ang taas ng diesel.
