Naglunsad ng fundraising campaign ang aktres na si Isabelle Daza para tulungan si Elvie Vergara, isang kasambahay mula sa Occidental Mindoro na nabulag dahil sa pang-aabuso umano ng kaniyang dating mga amo sa loob ng tatlong taon.

Sa kaniyang Instagram post, ibinahagi ni Isabelle ang karanasan ni Vergara, maging ang ilang detalye tungkol sa naturang fund raising.

“[Elvie] Vergara is a domestic helper who has been allegedly physically, mentally and verbally abused by her employers so much that she has been blinded in both eyes,” ani Isabelle sa post. 

“She is currently going to have an operation in one of her eyes to try to recover her sight–but the outcome is unsure.”

Sinabi rin ng aktres na hindi raw natatanggap ni Vergara ang kaniyang buwanang kompensasyon na ₱5,000 mula sa kaniya umanong mga “abusadong” amo dahil pinagbibintangan nila siyang nakabasag ng telebisyon ng mga ito.

“The Government is now trying to help her get it back as well as the other damages however this is a tedious process with a lot of paperwork and she needs help now,” saad ni Isabelle.

“I am raising funds for her to be able to live her life free from this abuse, without having to worry about what she will eat the next day or if she has enough money to live with basic needs like housing, food and medical assistance,” dagdag pa niya.

Nagpasalamat naman si Isabelle sa mga kasama niya sa industriya na nagpaabot ng tulong kay Vegara, tulad nina Anne Curtis, Iza Calzado, at Solenn Heussaff.

“To all those who donated, its only been 2 days but you guys have really opened your hearts and more importantly wallets,” ani Isabelle.

Habang sinusulat ito’y umabot na sa ₱737,125 ang nalikom ng naturang fundraising campaign.

Matatandaang nagsalaysay kamakailan si Vergara sa senado tungkol sa kaniyang karanasan sa kaniyang mga dating amo.
