Nagprotesta ang Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) nitong Huwebes, Setyembre 7, hinggil sa 2024 budget ng pamahalaan, kung saan mas malaki pa umano ang ilalaan para sa pensyon ng mga retiradong pulis at sundalo, kaysa sa budget para sa agrikultura.

Kasama ng KMP sa pagprotesta sa labas ng Kongreso ang human rights group na KARAPATAN at iba pang mga progresibong grupo sa bansa.

Sa isang pahayag nito ring Huwebes, binanggit ni Ronnie Manalo, secretary general ng KMP, na base sa 2024 National Expenditure Program, nasa ₱232.2 bilyon ang budget para sa Department of National Defense (DND).

"Even the proposed budget for the pension of retired military and police personnel is a whooping ₱129.82 billion is actually higher than the proposed budget allocation for the Department of Ariculture pegged at ₱108.5 billion,” ani Manalo.

“The entire proposed budget for military and uniformed personnel is at ₱164 billion. Mas malaki pa ang badyet para sa pension ng pulis at militar kumpara sa badyet para sa agrikultura. Maling-mali ang prayoridad ng gobyerno sa pagbabadyet,” dagdag pa niya.

Binatikos din ng KMP ang lumalala umanong "black budget" o ang confidential at intelligence funds sa ilalim ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., kung saan malaking bahagi umano nito ang napupunta sa Office of the President at sa Department of Education (DepEd) na pinamamahalaan ni Vice President at DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte.

"We demand the abolition of the confidential and intelligence funds. Every peso from the national coffers should be utilized wisely and for the benefit of Filipinos,” saad ni Manalo.

“Confidential and intelligence funds will not benefit rice farmers reeling from the high cost of production or small rice retailers who incurred heavy losses due to the rice price ceiling,” dagdag niya.

Samantala, nanawagan din ang grupo ng mga magsasaka sa Kongreso na magdeklara ng zero-budget para sa NTF-ELCAC.

“The multibillions requested by the notorious task force is an extreme waste and plunder of the people's hard-earned taxes.”

"The Barangay Development Program (BDP) fund amounting to P8.6 billion or Php10 million each for the country's 864 barangays will only fund the force surrender campaign launched by LGUs through the prodding of the local ELCAC," saad pa ni Manalo.
