Tuluyan nang inalis ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) ang ipinaiiral na mandatory face mask at physical distancing rules sa mga public utility vehicle (PUV).
Ito’y kasunod na rin ng paglagda ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. sa Proclamation No. 297 na nag-aalis ng Covid-19 state of public health emergency sa buong bansa.
Inihayag ni DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista, dahil sa naturang proklamasyon, inalis na rin nila ang physical distancing protocols sa mga pampublikong transportasyon at ang lahat ng passenger vehicle ay maaari nang magpatuloy na mag-operate ng full capacity.
“This new development is a significant step towards normalizing public transportation and supporting economic recovery,” ayon pa sa kalihim.
“While public safety remains a top priority, the removal of protocols aims to facilitate commuters' convenience, contribute to the revival of the transportation industry, and help stimulate economic activity," sabi pa ng opisyal.
