Inasatan na ni Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian ang mga regional director nito na maghanda na sa posibleng epekto ng bagyong Egay.

Ito ay matapos na isapubliko ng Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) na posible itong maging super typhoon sa mga susunod na araw.

Iniutos na rin nito sa mga regional field office na makipag-ugnayan sa mga local government unit (LGU) para sa inaasahang pamamahagi ng relief goods.

Sa ulat ng Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC), naka-standby na ang 1.14 milyong family food packs, gayundin ang P1.12 bilyong halaga ng non-food at iba pang food items sa buong bansa.

“A total of Php1.73 million standby funds are also available in the DSWD Central Office and Field Offices (FOs),” ayon sa Disaster Response and Management Group (DRMG).

“As instructed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., there are adequate food and non-food items (FNIs) prepositioned in the DSWD FOs nationwide, ready for distribution as augmentation support to the LGUs if the need arises. This will ensure immediate delivery of services to the affected population,” sabi naman ni DSWD spokesperson Assistant Secretary Romel Lopez.
