“There was no Speaker Romualdez in the picture.”
Itinanggi ni Vice President Sara Duterte ang pahayag ng isang mambabatas na may kinalaman umano si House Speaker Martin Romualdez sa kaniyang desisyong tumakbo sa pagka-Bise Presidente noong 2022.
Sa isang pahayag nitong Miyerkules, Hunyo 7, iginiit ni Duterte na hindi totoo ang sinabi ni Cavite Rep. Elpidio Barzaga Jr. na may kinalaman si Romualdez sa kaniyang kandidatura.
“There was no Speaker Romualdez in the picture,” ani Duterte. “Cavite Rep. Elpidio Barzaga Jr. was obviously badly informed or made to believe a lie.”

“To say that he ‘tremendously helped in pushing for’ my Vice Presidential bid is acutely inaccurate — an insult to thousands of groups and individuals who incessantly implored me to reconsider an earlier decision not to join national politics,” saad pa niya.
Isiniwalat din ni Duterte na si Senador Imee Marcos daw ang totoong nag-udyok sa kaniya na tumakbo bilang Bise Presidente, at ito ay naging selyado lamang umano pagkatapos pumayag si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sa mga kundisyon na itinakda niya bago tumakbo bilang bise presidente.
“Meanwhile, a person who cannot distinguish between attack and humor has no place in politics — especially if one fails to understand that political bickering is just a facet of democracy and should not be used to equate with governance,” pahayag pa ng bise presidente.
“On the one hand, how the recent political developments have become an opportunity for sycophants is quite amusing.”
Gayunpaman, sinabi muli ni Duterte na nananatiling “stable” at “strong” ang administrasyon ni Marcos.
“It has my all-out support and the support of the majority of the Filipino people” ani Duterte.
Naging usap-usapan kamakailan lamang ang tila hidwaan sa pagitan niya at ni Romualdez na iniulat na siyang nasa likod ng pagpapatalsik kay dating pangulo at Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo mula sa posisyon ng senior deputy speaker matapos daw niyang sinubukang maglunsad ng kudeta.
Matatandaang kamakailan lamang ay nagpahayag si Duterte ng kaniyang pagmamahal kay Pangulong Marcos, ngunit tumanggi siyang banggitin ang “middle initial” ng pangulo na may katumbas na “Romualdez.”
