"The denial of former Senator Leila de Lima's bail petition tears a massive hole in President Bongbong Marcos' first year in office."

"This also reveals the bitter infighting between the Marcos and Duterte camps, and the extremely factionalized nature of the Marcos government," anang Akbayan.
"Leila's freedom has turned into a proxy war between the two warring parties, with the Dutertes getting the upper hand at the expense of Marcos' tarnished image before the international community," dagdag nito.
"It actually makes sense for him to do so. President Marcos and De Lima have no history of political animosity. Marcos is therefore in an excellent position to uphold the law and demonstrate how his administration differs from that of his predecessor."
"If President Marcos truly wants to deliver on his promise of unity to the Filipino people, he must acknowledge that Leila deserves to be free," anang Akbayan.
"Doing so shows that he is not a petty and vindictive tyrant like the previous Malacañang resident, that he can rise above the squabbles of those around him, and that unity is not just a hollow electoral slogan, but a real, living idea, anchored on the rule of law, justice, and truth," dagdag nito.
