Pinaalalahanan ng Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) ang vessel owners na mag-ingat sa gitna ng papalapit na super typhoon Mawar o bagyong Betty sa bansa.
Sa inilabas na safety advisory ng MARINA sa pamamagitan ng National Capital Region (NCR) office nitong Biyernes, Mayo 26, binigyang-diin ng MARINA na mahalagang sumunod sa safety measures at precautionary protocols upang manatiling ligtas sa bagyo.
Ayon sa Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), inaasahang mabilis na lalakas ang bagyo sa loob ng susunod na 24 hanggang 36 na oras.
Inaasahan naman umanong pumasok sa Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) nitong Sabado ng madaling araw, Mayo 27.

"The MARINA-NCR has issued a directive to shipowners, designated persons, boat owners, and concerned entities, urging them to comply with the MARINA Advisory issued on 20 December 2019. This specifically entails the rigorous implementation of the Code of Safety Stowage and Securing in Domestic Shipping," anang MARINA.
Nakasaad umano sa naturang Code na ang lahat ng mga kargamento ay dapat na itago at i-secure sa paraang ang barko at mga taong sakay ay hindi malagay sa panganib.
Ayon kay Engr. Marc Anthony Pascua, ang Regional Director ng MARINA-NCR, napakahalaga ng masusing pagsubaybay sa kaligtasan ng lahat ng sasakyang-dagat.
"The directive aims to ensure that all necessary precautions are taken and that vessels are suitably prepared for the approaching super typhoon," ani Pascua.
Bilang karagdagan pa umano sa pagsunod sa Code of Safety Stowage and Securing, ipinag-uutos ng MARINA-NCR ang pag-activate ng emergency procedures na naaayon sa ISM Safety Management System (SMS) Code.
“[I]t is imperative that all stakeholders ensure strict compliance with safety standards, procedures, and the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) under their respective company's SMS," saad ng MARINA.
