Ipinahayag ng Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) nitong Biyernes, Mayo 19, na naiintindihan at nirerespeto nila ang desisyon ni Vice President Sara Duterte na magbitiw bilang miyembro ng partido.
Inanunsyo kaninang umaga ni Duterte, nagsilbing chairperson ng Lakas-CMD, ang pagbibitiw niya bilang miyembro nito.

“We thank Vice President Sara Duterte for the services she rendered to our party, the Lakas-CMD, as party chair, and for helping us build a Unity Team aimed at bringing meaningful change to Philippine society,” pahayag ni Agusan del Norte 1st district Rep. Jose “Joboy” Aquino II, secretary general ng Lakas-CMD.

Sinusuportahan din umano ng partido ang naging panawagan ni Duterte sa lahat ng political leaders na suportahan si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., at magkaisa para sa tagumpay ng administrasyon at kapakinabangan ng mga mamamayan.

Inanunsyo ang pagbibitiw ni Duterte matapos ang naging pagpapatalsik kay Pampanga 2nd district Representative at dating Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo bilang senior deputy speaker noong Mayo 17.
Si Arroyo ang chairperson emeritus ng Lakas-CMD, ang pinakamalaking partido sa Kamara.
