Nanawagan si House Speaker Martin Romualdez kayNegros Oriental 3rd District Rep. Arnolfo "Arnie" Teves, Jr. na itigil na ang paghingi ng asylum sa ibang bansa at umuwi na lang sa bansa upang harapin ang mga akusasyon laban sa kanya.
"We, in the House of Representatives, view with great concern reports from the DOJ (Department of Justice) and the DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) that Rep. Arnie Teves has applied for political asylum in Timor-Leste," pahayag ni Romualdez nitong Miyerkules.
"I discourage any attempt by our colleague, Cong. Arnie, to seek refuge inothercountry and abandon his sworn duty to serve as member of the House of Representatives," banggit ng kongresista.
"Rather than evade investigation by Philippine law enforcement agencies, Cong. Arnie should return home immediately and face the accusation against him.I had repeatedly assured him that the House of Representatives will secure his personal safety upon his return to the Philippines," paliwanag ni Romualdez.

Noong Pebrero 28, nagtungo sa Amerika si Teves at hindi na bumalik sa takdang panahong ibinigay sa kanya ng House of Representatives.
Si Teves ay idinadawit umano sa pamamaslang kay Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo sa Pamplona sa naturang lalawigan noong Marso 4.
Kahit ilang beses nang itinanggi ang pagkakasangkot sa krimen, tumanggi pa ring umuwi sa bansa dahil umano sa banta sa kanyang buhay.
Dahil sa hiling na asylum sa Timor-Leste, makumpirma ang kinaroroonan ng kongresista matapos ang ilang buwang hindi pag-uwi sa bansa.
Ibinasura ang request nito at inatasan siya ng pamahalaan ng Timor-Leste na lisanin na ang nasabing lugar.
