Siniguro ni United States (US) President Joe Biden kay Pangulong Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. na pananatilihin nito ang pangako ng kanilang bansa na ipagtatanggol ang Pilipinas sa gitna ng tumataas na tensyon sa Indo-Pacific region.
Sinabi ito ni Biden sa pagpupulong sa White House nitong Lunes, Mayo 1 (US time), matapos buksan ni Marcos ang usapin na nagbabago ang sitwasyon sa rehiyon, kaya’t kailangan na umanong paigtingin ang kasalukuyang Mutual Defense Treaty sa pagitan ng dalawang bansa.
Ang nasabing pagdalo ni Marcos ang unang pagbisita ng isang pangulo ng Pilipinas sa White House sa loob ng maraming taon.
Sa kaniyang opening statement, binanggit ni Marcos kay Biden na maaaring nahaharap ngayon ang Pilipinas sa masalimuot na sitwasyon pagdating sa geopolitics.

"And so it is only natural that — for the Philippines to look to its sole treaty partner in the world, to strengthen and to redefine the relationship that we have and the roles that we play in the face of these tensions that we see now around the South China Sea and the Asia-Pacific and Indo-Pacific region," ani Marcos.
"And again our role as partners in the world— in our worldview of what we are hoping for the future of peace, not only in the Asia-Pacific and Indo-Pacific region but in the whole world," dagdag niya.
Sinabi naman ni Biden na patuloy na susuportahan ng US ang Pilipinas sa mga isyung kinahaharap nito, at maging pagdating sa military modernization ng bansa.
“[Washington remains] ironclad in our commitment to the defense of the Philippines, including the South China Sea and we’re gonna continue [supporting] the Philippines’ military modernization,” saad ni Biden.
“Our countries not only share strong partnership. We share deep friendship, one that has been enriched by millions of Filipino-Americans and the communities all across the United States,” dagdag niya.
