Iniulat ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) na naging matagumpay at payapa ang pagdaraos ng plebisito sa Marawi City nitong Sabado.
Ayon kay Comelec chairman George Garcia, naging mataas rin ang voter turnout ng proseso na umabot sa 97%.
"It was a very peaceful conduct of the plebiscite. People troop to the precincts and there was about 97 percent voters turnout," ani Garcia, sa isang panayam nitong Lunes.
Aniya, bumoto ang mga residente ng pabor sa pagbuo ng dalawang bagong barangay, na kinabibilangan ng Barangay Boganga II at Barangay Datu Dalidigan.
"Ninety-six percent voted yes. Four percent voted no. So, it was a very successful conduct of this plebiscite in Marawi City," aniya pa.
Sinabi ni Garcia na sa October 30 Barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan Elections ay maghahalal na rin ang dalawang naturang barangay ng kanilang mga lider.
Pansamantala, habang wala pa ang eleksiyon, mananatili muna ang mga ito sa pamumuno ng mga orihinal na barangay.
Samantala, aminado naman si Garcia na noong una ay nahirapan silang hikayatin ang mga tao na bumoto.
"It was so difficult simply because we have to convince the people that there is nothing to fear. Likewise, we laid down a very good plan of action in order to ensure people will be able to vote on election day," aniya pa.
