Naglabas ng pahayag ang Smart Communications Inc. nitong Lunes, Pebrero 27, hinggil sa closure order na ibinaba ng Local Government Unit (LGU) ng Makati City dahil umano sa hindi pagbabayad ng ₱3.2-bilyong tax at kawalan ng business permit nito.

Sa pahayag ng Smart, nananatili umano silang nakatuon sa pagsunod sa local tax ordinances ng lungsod maging sa batas ng bansa hinggil sa pagbabayad ng tax.

“Reference is made to the closure order on Smart Communications Inc.’s Head Office located in Ayala Avenue, Makati City, issued 23rd of February, by the Makati LGU in respect of outstanding local taxation issues,” paunang pahayag ng Smart.

“Smart remains committed to complying with Makati City’s local tax ordinances, and with applicable national laws, in respect of local taxation,” dagdag nito.

Naghain na rin umano ang Smart ng mga angkop na kaso para maresolba ang kanilang “outstanding legal issues,” bagama’t nananatili pa raw ang mga itong pending.

“Smart has filed the appropriate cases to resolve outstanding legal issues; these cases remain pending. Our legal and tax teams continue to be in touch with the Makati LGU on the matters at hand,” anang Smart.

“We assure the public that our services will remain available and accessible to our subscribers,” saad pa nito.
