Hindi na lamang tuwing Pasko aabangan ang "Metro Manila Film Festival" o MMFF kundi tuwing Summer na rin.

Ang kauna-unahang Summer MMFF ay mapapanood mula Abril 8 hanggang 18, sa lahat ng sinehan sa buong bansa, sa pakikipagtulungan ng Cinema Exhibitors Association of the Philippines (CEAP). Abril 2 naman gaganapin ang Parade of Stars at ang Gabi ng Parangal naman ay sa New Frontier Theater sa Abril 11.

Ang walong mapapalad na napiling pelikula ay ang sumusunod: "Apag" ng Centerstage Production nina Coco Martin, Lito Lapid, Jaclyn Jose, at Gladys Reyes sa direksiyon ni Brillante Mendoza, "Single Bells" ng TINCAN nina Aljur Abrenica, Angeline Quinto, at Alex Gonzaga sa direksyon ni Fifth Solomon, "About Us But Not About Us" ng Octoberian Films, The Ideafirst Company, Quantum Films nina Romnick Sarmenta at Elijah Canlas sa direksyon ni Jun Robles Lana, 'Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok ko" ng Saranggola Media Productions, Inc. nina RK Bagatsing at Meg Imperial sa direksyon ni Joven Tan.

"There were many horror and sexy films submitted to the MMFF. However, they did not meet the criteria of the selecting committee,” pahayag ni Movie Worker’s Welfare Foundation (Mowelfund) Chair Boots Anson Roa-Rodrigo.

Kasama ni Roa-Rodrigo, inanunsyo ang walong opisyal at pinal na kalahok sa Summer MMFF sa isang special meeting na ginanap sa Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila sa Pasig City kahapon ng Biyernes, Pebrero 24, kasama si Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) at Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Chairman lawyer Don Artes.
