Pitong ambulansya ang itinurn-over ng Department of Health (DOH) - Ilocos Region sa Provincial Government ng Ilocos Norte upang maipamahagi sa mga local government units (LGUs) doon at makatulong upang madagdagan ang health services access sa mga komunidad, bilang bahagi ng Universal Health Care Program ng pamahalaan.
“These ambulances will also increase the level of functionality of our local government hospitals so that they may be empowered and equipped with the essential manpower, equipment and diagnostic tools in order for them to cater to a wide range of ailments and diseases and to broaden their catchment areas to include hard to reach and isolated localities,” ayon kay Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco, matapos na pangunahan ang turn-over ceremony na ginanap sa Governor Roque B. Ablan Sr. Memorial Hospital sa Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
Catanduanes, niyanig ng magnitude 6.1 na lindol
“Pangalagaan ninyo ang mga ambulansyang ito upang magamit ninyo ng mahabang panahon. Give them proper care and maintenance and also ensure that they are utilized in accordance with the definition and standards provided by the health department,” bilin pa niya.
Nabatid na ang mga naturang ambulansya ay fully equipped ng folding stretcher, nebulizer, portable suction machine, defibrillator, portable suction machine, examining light, aneroid sphygmomanometer, scoop stretcher, stethoscopes, non-contact thermometer, blood-glucose meter with strip, resuscitators for infant, pedia and adult; oxygen theraphy set; laryngoscopes set; immobilization devices, delivery set at patient transfer monitor.
Ang bawat ambulansya ay nagkakahalaga ng tig-₱2,232,500.
Ang mga ito ay naipagkaloob sa pamamagitan ng inisyatiba nina Senator Imee Marcos at Congressman Ferdinand Alexander A. Marcos III at pinondohan ng DOH Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) upang mabigyan ang mga LGUs sa lalawigan ng kinakailangang transport vehicle sa panahon ng emergency.
Laking pasalamat naman ni Ilocos Governor Matthew Joseph M. Manotoc, na siyang tumanggap sa mga units, at nangakong pagkakalooban pa ng mas maraming health care benefits ang kanilang mga health workers at magpapatupad ng mga pagbabago sa kanilang mga healthcare facilities.
Napag-alaman naman na kabilang sa mga LGU na tatanggap ng mga ambulansiya ay ang Sarrat Health and Diagnostic Center, Bangui District Hospital, Piddig District Hospital, Vintar District Hospital at Gov. Roque B. Ablan Sr. Memorial Hospital.
