Pormal nang naidaos ang satellite voter registration sa Manila City Jail para sa 2023 Barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

Nabatid na aabot sa mahigit sa 300 bilanggo o persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) sa Manila City Jail ang nakiisa sa naturang voter registration.

Ang naturang aktibidad ay magkatuwang na isinagawa ng pamunuan ng Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Manila at ng Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), sa male dormitory ng piitan nitong Sabado ng umaga.

Dahil dito, umaabot na umano sa kabuuang 66,244 PDLs ang nairehistro bilang botante.

Sa naturang bilang, 27,741 PDLs ang ikinukonsidera bilang newly-registered voters.

Ang BJMP ay mayroong 478 jail facilities sa buong bansa at may jail population na 126,680 PDLs.

“HAPPENING NOW: The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), in coordination with the Commission on Elections - Manila, conducted an on-site voter registration for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) of Manila City Jail - Male Dormitory in preparation for the upcoming October Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections,” anunsiyo ng BJMP.

“The BJMP encourage all PDL to register and exercise their right to vote during the election day,” anito pa.

“As of today (January 21, 2023), the BJMP recorded a total of 66,244 registered PDL voters out of the 126,680 jail population in all its 478 jail facilities nationwide,” dagdag pa nito.

Ang voter registration para sa BSKE ay sinimulan noong Disyembre 12, 2022 at nakatakdang magtapos sa Enero 31, 2023.
