Pinag-aaralan ngayon ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) na ibenta sa mga Kadiwa store ang mga nasabat na smuggled na sibuyas kamakailan.

Sa Laging Handa briefing nitong Huwebes, binanggit ni BOC operations chief, spokesperson Arnaldo dela Torre, Jr. na iniimbestigahan pa nila ang shipments ng puslit na asukal na nauna na nilang nasamsam sa nakaraang anti-smuggling operation bago nila ito ibenta sa Kadiwa outlet sa Metro Manila.'

“The Bureau of Customs, since last year, we have seized some agricultural products, particularly sugar. These are the ones that are currently being investigated after the issuance of a warrant of seizure by our bureau,” anang opisyal.

Nitong Enero 11, naharang ng BOC ang mahigit sa ₱24 milyong halaga ng smuggled na refined sugar sa Manila International Container Port (MICP) sa Tondo, Maynila mula Hong Kong.

Bukod pa ito sa nasamsam na 4,000 metriko toneladang puslit na asukal na nagkakahalaga ng ₱240 milyon mula Thailand sa ikinasang operasyon sa Batangas port nitong Enero 13.

“Those that were seized at MICP and in Batangas, the bureau is conducting an investigation so that we can have complete jurisdiction and give it to the government,” paliwanag pa ng naturang opisyal.
