Kinumpirma ng Department of Health (DOH) nitong Biyernes, Disyembre 23, na nasa apat na ang kaso ng Omicron subvariant BF.7 na naitala nila sa Pilipinas.
Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ng DOH, na sa ngayon ang BF.7 ay iniuulat lamang sa ilalim ng Omicron subvariant BA.5.
Dagdag pa ng DOH, sa ngayon ay wala naman silang nakikitang pagkakaiba sa severity o clinical manifestations sa pagitan ng BF.7 at ng orihinal na Omicron variant.
“As of current date, only four BF.7 cases have been detected in the country and these cases are being reported under Omicron BA.5,” anang DOH.

“Again, the subvariant is still reported under BA.5 by the WHO and will remain classified under Omicron,” anito pa.
Kaugnay nito, muli ring hinikayat ng DOH ang publiko na patuloy na tumalima sa mga umiiral na health protocols upang makaiwas na mahawaan ng virus.
“The Department of Health reiterates the need to put more emphasis on other factors such as wearing of best-fitting face masks, isolating when sick, doubling-up protection via vaccines and boosters, and ensuring good airflow,” anang ahensiya.
“If such factors will be adhered to and implemented by ourselves immediately, decline in cases may be observed sooner,” dagdag pa ng DOH.
