Umabot na sa ₱1.2 bilyong halaga ng puslit na agricultural products ang nakumpiska ng pamahalaan mula Enero hanggang sa buwan na ito.

“A total of 105 seizures of agricultural products were conducted from January 2022 up to present. These have an estimated value of ₱1,205,000,000,” paliwanag ni Bureau of Customs (BOC) Spokesperson Arnaldo dela Torre, Jr. nitong Miyerkules.

Sa ulat ng Bureau of Customs (BuCor), karamihan sa mga nasamsam ay sibuyas na nanggaling pa sa China.

“The most common declaration of consignees is food stuff, foods or ingredients for making spring rolls, patties, churros, steamed buns, breads, pastries, lobster balls and crab sticks,” sabi nito.

“The confiscated agricultural products are destroyed and are often buried on the ground. Under the rules of the Department of Agriculture (DA), these smuggled agricultural products must be destroyed, edified on land or returned to the country of origin, they cannot be sold, or even donated since we make sure the safety and health of our people,” dagdag pa ng opisyal.

Nasa 100 na kasong kriminal ang naisampa na rin nig BOC Action Team Against Smugglers (BATAS) laban sa mga importer at Customs broker na sangkot sa smuggling dahil sa paglabag sa batas.
