Nagdeklara ang New York City sa United States ng public health emergency dahil sa monkeypox outbreak.
Ito ay inanunsyo nina New York City Mayor Eric Adams at City Health Commissioner Ashwin vasan sa isang joint statement matapos makapagtala ng 1,383 monkeypox cases sa New York.
“New York City is currently the epicenter of the outbreak, and we estimate that approximately 150,000 New Yorkers may currently be at risk for monkeypox exposure,” ayon sa pahayag.
Ang deklarasyong ito ay magbibigay-daan sa health department na mag-isyu ng mga emergency order sa ilalim ng city health code at amyendahan ang mga provision code upang makatulong na mapabagal ang pagkalat.
