Sinabi ni President-elect Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. na pansamantala niyang pangangasiwaan ang Department of Agriculture (DA).
Mismong si Marcos ang nag-anunsyo nito sa isang impromptu press conference nitong Lunes, Hunyo 20, sa BBM headquarters sa Mandaluyong City.
Nais pamunuan ni Marcos ang DA dahil binanggit niya ang mga nagbabantang seryosong problema sa sektor ng agrikultura, lalo na pagdating sa food sufficiency.
"As to agriculture, I think that the problem is severe enough that I have decided to take on the portfolio of Secretary of Agriculture, at least for now and at least until we can reorganize the Department of Agriculture in the way that will make it ready for the next years to come," anang president-elect

"Marami tayong mga kailangan palitan. Marami tayong mga, medyo mga iba't ibang opisina na hindi na masyadong nagagamit o kailangan nang i-retool para sa post-pandemic, dahil nga iba na yung ating ginagawa ngayon," dagdag pa niya.
"We're going back to basics, ilang beses niyo na narinig sa akin 'to, and we will rebuild the value chain of agriculture. That is why I thought it is important that the President take that portfolio so that not only to make it clear to everyone what a high priority we put on the agricultural sector, but also as a practical matter so that things move quickly because the events of the global economy are moving very quickly.
"We have to be able to respond in a properly measured way as soon as there is a situation to be addressed so that's essentially what we discussed. That is my announcement for today."
Samantala, noong Abril 2022, sinabi ni Marcos, Jr. na magsisikap siya na mapababa ang presyo ng bigas sa kaniyang administrasyon kapag siya ay nanalo bilang pangulo.
Plano niya na ibaba ang presyo ng bigas ng P20 hanggang P30 kada kilo. Gayunman, para magawa ito, binanggit niya na kailangan niyang pagtuunanang masusing pag-imbentaryong mga ani ng palay sa bansa.
