Target ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) na pagsapit ng taong 2023 ay maging fully-operational na ang Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7).

Sa Laging Handa briefing nitong Lunes, sinabi ni DOTr Undersecretary Timothy Batan na sa ngayon ang progress rate ng P68.2-bilyong MRT-7 project, ay nasa 65% na.

Target aniya nilang makapag-partial operations ang MRT-7 sa Disyembre 2022 at tuluyan na itong maging operational sa susunod na taon.

Kumpiyansa si Batan na ang proyekto ay makatutulong upang mapabilis pa ang biyahe mula North Avenue, Quezon City, hanggang San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, ng kalahating oras na lamang, mula sa dating dalawang oras.

“Our progress rate is at 65%, and our target is for it to be ready for partial operations by December 2022 and fully operational by 2023,” ayon pa kay Batan. “This will bring great convenience to our commuters since it will reduce travel time from San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, to North Avenue from two hours to 30 minutes.”

Inaasahan rin ng DOTr na aabot sa 300,000 pasahero kada araw ang kayang pagsilbihan ng MRT-7, at madaragdagan pa ito.

“While 300,000 passengers per day is the figure we expect for its first year, MRT7 has the capacity to service 800,000 passengers on an everyday basis,” aniya. “So 10 to 15 years down the line, MRT7 is equipped to deal with an increased number of passengers.”
