Nagpahayag ng suporta ang United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) Council of Bishops kina Vice President Leni Robredo at Senator Kiko Pangilinan sa presidential at vice presidential race sa darating na May 9 elections.
“This is a result of our collective discernment, which may be used for [the] moral guidance of our faith community, especially the undecided,” anang UCCP Council of Bishops sa isang pahayag.
Nakatanggap din ng suporta ng religious group sina Senatorial bets Teddy Baguilat, Jojo Binay, Neri Colmenares, Leila de Lima, Chel Diokno, Luke Espiritu, Risa Hontiveros, Elmer Bong Labog, Alex Lacson, Loren Legarda, at Sonny Matula.
Naniniwala ang UUCP Council of Bishops na ang mga kandidatong ito ay pantay na may kakayahan at nakatuon sa paglilingkod sa mga tao tulad nina Robredo at Pangilinan.

“In choosing them, we are guided by our awe-inspiring commitment to herald the truth and be by the side of the most oppressed and vulnerable sectors of our society,” sabi ng grupo.
Samantala, pinaalalahanan din ng UCCP Council of Bishops ang publiko na ang darating na halalan ay ang panahon para gamitin ang karapatan sa pagboto at maghalal ng mga opisyal na magdadala sa atin patungo sa “lupang pinangako” — isang lugar kung saan ang lahat ng ating pag-asa at pangarap para sa isang mas mabuting magkakatotoo ang buhay at pamayanan.
“But at the end of the day, the choice is still left with the individual believer on the basis of the Reformation dictum of the individual believer’s freedom of conscience and discernment, guided by the precepts of Scripture, the Word of God,” anang konseho.
