Sinabi ni Speaker Lord Allan Velasco nitong Miyerkules, Abril 27, na dapat ipatupad nang tama at maayos ng susunod na Pangulo at iba pang mga pinuno ang Marawi Compensation Act na nilagdaan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte bilang isang batas.

Ayon sa Speaker, ang panukala na isang priority legislation ng kasalukuyang 18th Congress ay isinabatas upang tulungan ang libu-libong residente ng Marawi City sa Lanao del Sur na maibangon ang mga sarili at kabuhayan mula sa pagkakalugmok at pinsala sanhi ng labanan noong 2017 sa pagitan ng puwersa ng gobyerno at mga tauhan ng Islamic State mula sa Maute Group na labis na puminsala sa maraming lugar ng siyudad.

“Through this new law, we hope to see the return to glory of this once beautiful city and its people back on their feet. We also hope to ease the burden of those who lost their properties and loved ones during the war by providing them just compensation,” ani Velasco.

“We see this legislation as one of the important legacies of the Duterte presidency and the 18th Congress. Thus, we call upon our next set of leaders to [ensure] the proper enforcement of this law so that we can achieve our goal of seeing Marawi rise again sooner rather than later,” dagdag ng lider ng Kamara.

Inihayag ni Acting presidential spokesperson Martin Andanar ang paglagda ni Duterte sa Marawi compensation law noong Miyerkules.

Batay sa bagong batas, sino mang kuwalipikadong may-ari ng residential, cultural, at commercial structure-- bukod sa iba pang ari-arian sa pinaka apektadong lugar sa Marawi ay makakatanggap ng tax-free compensation mula sa estado.
