Binigyan na ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) go-signal ang Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) na maipagpatuloy ang ginagawa nilang pamamahagi ng fuel subsidy sa mga public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers at operators.
Mismong si Comelec Commissioner George Erwin Garcia ang nag-anunsyo ng naturang hakbang sa isang pulong balitaan nitong Miyerkules.
“We granted the petition of the LTFRB as regards to the fuel subsidy program,” ayon kay Garcia.
Gayunman, nilinaw ni Garcia na ang naturang pag-apruba ay may kaakibat aniyang ilang kondisyon.
“However, the grant of the petition to LTFRB is subject to the strict implementation of the program, resubmission of information on how the project will be implemented, the parameters of implementation, and especially the specific target beneficiaries on how they will apply to avail of the grants of the program, and likewise subject to submission of the different departments that would be implementing the said program of the LTFRB — from the Department of Agriculture to the [Department of Social Welfare and Development] and such other departments,” aniya pa.
Dagdag pa ni Garcia, dapat ring hintayin muna ng LTFRB ang resolusyon ng Comelec upang makatalima sila sa mga naturang kondisyon.
Matatandaang hiniling ng LTFRB sa Comelec na mabigyan ng exemption sa election spending ban ang pamamahagi nila ng fuel subsidy sa may 377,000 PUV operators at drivers na apektado ng patuloy na pagtaas ng presyo ng mga produktong petrolyo sa bansa.
