Pabor ang mga kasapi ng Makabayan bloc sa mungkahing amyendahan ang Party-list Law upang mapigilan ang pag-abuso ng ilang sektor na ginagamit ito para sa personal na interes at negosyo ng mayayaman.

    

Sinabi ni Deputy Minority Leader at Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Zarate, lider ng Makabayan bloc, na bukas sila sa pagsususog sa party-list system upang matiyak na tanging mga lehitimong grupo mula sa mahihirap na sektor ang kakatawan sa kanila sa Kongreso.

“We believe the system is being hijacked, or as some even said, bastardized, by allowing just anybody to join. This is being used as a backdoor by dynasties. They allow just anybody and any name to join even without clear advocacies,” ani Zarate.

Noon pang 16th Congress ay isinusulong na ng militanteng grupo ang pag-aamyenda sa party-list sa pamamagitan ng paghahain ng isang panukala tungkol dito.

“We already filed amendatory bill, but unfortunately this was blocked by those in control of Congress. We want to keep the spirit and intent of the party-list system as introduced in the Constitution, which was copied from European tradition. It reached the plenary but it was not passed,” anang kongresista.

Nilinaw ni Zarate na suportado ng Makabayan bloc na susugan ang batas, pero tutol sila sa abolisyon ng party-list system.

Samantala, binira ni Zarate si Pangulong Duterte dahil sa muling pagre-red-tag sa kanilang grupo at sinabing bahagi ito ng “dirty tactics” na ginagamit ng administrasyon laban sa oposisyon at maging kay Vice President Leni Robredo na lumalakas ang hatak sa kampanya, rallies at pakikipag-usap sa mga tao.

“For all intents and purposes, this is really a politically calculated action from Malacañang. He [Duterte] is doing this to help the candidates he’s supporting. He is also sowing intrigues against the opposition, which is gaining strong support to stop Marcos and Duterte from winning and the return of dictatorship," badya ni Zarate.
