Sinabi ni Anakalusugan Party-list Representative Mike Defensor nitong Linggo, Marso 20, na ang Unibersidad ng Pilipinas-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) Diliman Project ay lilikha ng higit sa 3,000 trabaho upang makatulong sa pagpapalakas ng ekonomiya ng Quezon City.
“We are wholly endorsing the project. Besides vastly improving public access to world-class charity hospitalization and outpatient services, the project will create 3,400 new permanent jobs,” ani Defensor.
“We’ve gone over the project details, and the hospital alone will create 1,500 new full-time occupations for medical and allied healthcare staff plus 1,900 new fixed positions for general administrative workers,” dagdag niya.
Sinabi ni Defensor, na tumatakbo bilang alkalde ng lungsod sa 2022 elections, na ang proyekto ay magbubunga ng mga bagong trabaho sa pagpapanatili ng gusali at kagamitan, paglilinis, at mga serbisyo sa seguridad, gayundin ang mga trabahong may kinalaman sa konstruksyon na makakatulong sa mga kabahayan na mababa ang kita.

“Once the project is completed, additional jobs will be created by small businesses that will emerge around the hospital’s 24-hour operation,” sabi ng mambabatas.
Ang P21.3-bilyong proyekto, na ipinatupad ng UP sa pamamagitan ng 25-taong kontratang "build-transfer-maintain" kasama ang isang pribadong kasosyo, ay naglalayong bumuo ng isang makabagong, 700-bed university teaching at research hospital na may mulitspecialty capabilities, iba't ibang serbisyo (outpatient, hospice care, auxillary) at isang college of medicine.
Ito ay itatayo sa 4.2 ektarya na bukas na lupa sa loob ng UP Diliman Campus, na magkakaroon ng 80,0000 square-meter gross floor area at 13,600 square-meter car parking space.
Ang proyekto ng UP-PGH ay lilikha ng mga regular na posisyon para sa mga doktor at iba pang mga manggagawang medikal/pangkalusugan, social welfare officers at mga assistant nito, mga technician ng laboratoryo at kagamitang medikal, mga technician ng physical therapy at mga health physicists.
Mabubuo rin ang mga nakapirming posisyon para sa mga administrative officer at assistant, engineer, accountant, statistician, chemist, training specialist at assistant, computer maintenance technologist, housekeeper at iba pang trabaho.
Sinabi ni Defensor na balak niyang makipagtulungan sa UP at sa pribadong partner nito para sa mabilis na pagsubaybay sa proyekto kung siya ang mananalo bilang alkalde ng lungsod.
“Whatever the project needs in terms of local government permits and licenses, we will surely expedite them,” saad nito.
