Sinuportahan ni Northern Samar Gov. Edwin Ongchuan ang pahayag ni Pang. Rodrigo Duterte na ang susunod na pangulo ay dapat isang abogadong “compassionate, decisive, and a good judge of character.”
"We, in the Province of Northern Samar, agree with President Rodrigo Duterte that the next President of the Republic should be compassionate, decisive and a good judge of people’s character," pahayag ni Ongchuan sa kanyang Facebook post.

Kaugnay dito, naniniwala ang mga namumunong lokal sa N. Samar na dapat si Bise Presidente Leni Robredo ang manalo bilang presidente sa darating na eleksyon.
"In consultation with our local leaders – municipal mayors, provincial and barangay officials, sectoral heads – and after assessment of the character and track record of all presidential aspirants, it came to our collective discernment that the candidate who best fits these qualities is VP Leni Robredo."
Aniya, buong-buo ang suporta nila sa pagtakbo ni Robredo para sa pinakamataas na posisyon.
"With her kind of leadership, we believe that VP Leni will be beside us in our efforts for sustained progress. Hence, we express our wholehearted support to VP Leni," ani Ongchuan.
Nauna nang sinabi ni Duterte na dapat ang papalit sa kanya sa pagkapangulo ay isang abogadong “compassionate, decisive, and a good judge of character.”

Nais din ni Duterte na ang susunod na pangulo ay isang abogado.
“‘Wag kang matakot. It’s the best quality. But of the good qualities of the president, sana abogado,” aniya.
