Tumindi pa ang pag-aalburoto ng Kanlaon Volcano sa Negros Island matapos makapagtala ng sunud-sunod na pagyanig nitong Biyernes, Enero 21.
Paliwanag ng Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), naitala nila ang 18 na pagyanig sa nakaraang 24 oras.
"These included four very shallow tornillo signals that are associated with magmatic gas movement along fractures within the upper volcanic slopes,” ayon sa pahayag ng Phivolcs.
Nakapagtala rin ang ahensya ng“very weak to moderate” na degassing activity sa crater nito at pagbuga ng 200 metrong usok nitong Enero 16.

“The local government units and the public are strongly reminded that entry into the four-kilometer radius permanent danger zone (PDZ) must be strictly prohibited due to the further possibilities of sudden and hazardous steam-driven or phreatic eruptions.Civil aviation authorities must also advise pilots to avoid flying close to the volcano’s summit as ejecta from any sudden phreatic eruption can be hazardous to aircraft,” dagdag pa ng ahensya.
