Pinaalalahanan ng Department of Health (DOH) nitong Miyerkules, Enero 19, ang publiko sa paggamit ng Molnupiravir laban sa coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) sa gitna ng pagkalat sa merkado ng pekeng gamot kontra sa nabanggit na sakit.
Paliwanag ng DOH, ang Molnupiravir ay ginagamit laban samild cases ng COVID-19 at mayroongEmergency Use Authorization (EUA) at Compassionate Special Permit (CSP) mula sa Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Binanggit ng ahensya, ang Molnupiravir ay para lamang sa mga pasyente na kumpirmadong nahawaan ng COVID-19 batay sa kanilang RT-PCR (Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction) test results, na may mild symptoms, lagpas sa 60 taong gulang, na may aktibong kanser,chronic kidney disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, obesity, serious heart conditions, or diabetes mellitus.
“Molnupiravir is safe and effective when used in the correct patients and administered for no more than five (5) days. Using the drug improperly can cause harm, especially if it is used in the wrong target population, for longer than 5 days, or in patients who do not have confirmed COVID-19 infection,” babala ng DOH.

Dapat ding pangangasiwaanlamang ng mga lisensyadong doktor ang paggamit sa Molnupiravir, ayon sa DOH.
“It is your physician who will help secure your medicines and ensure that they are authentic by referring you toauthorizedsellers, e.g. hospital pharmacies,” sabi ng ahensya.
Paglalalahadng DOH, masyadong mapanganib sa kalusugan ang paggamit ng naturang gamot kung bibilhin ito sa mgaunreliable sources o isagawa ang sariling gamutan laban sa COVID-19.
