Hiniling ng isang kongresista na imbestigahan ng Kamara at Senado ang napaulat na hacking incident sa Commission on Elections dahil magdudulot ng pagdududa ang integridad ng idaraos na eleksyonsa 2022.

Nais ni Samar Rep. Edgar Mary Sarmiento, na kaagad mag- convene ang dalawang Kapulungan upang alamin ang umano'y naganap na hacking incident.

Aniya, maaaring gamitin ng Kongreso ang oversight powers nito sa pagpapatupad ng Republic Act No. 8436 o ng Automated Election Law. "This report of a serious breach on the server of the Comelec must be thoroughly investigated to check if the automated system is free from manipulation and possible wholesale cheating," sabi nito.

Hindi aniya ito ang unang pagkakataon na na-hack ang servers ng Comelec. Matatandaang limang linggo bago ang 2016 elections, nagawa ng mga hackers na makopya ang database ng may 55 million voters’ registration information.

"There are only two reasons why this hacking incident could happen. One is, the Comelec has poor network security protocols and the second is, it is an inside job. We should make sure if this hacking incident happened or not. We cannot just take the Comelec’s word for this. We need to know the basis of the story. If there was a hacking incident, we need to know if this is serious enough that the poll results can be manipulated electronically,” pagbibigay-diin pa ng kongresista.
