Iniutos ni Gen. Dionardo Carlos, hepe ng Philippine National Police (PNP), nitong Sabado, Enero 1, ang masusing imbestigasyon sa pagkamatay ni Trece Martirez City Assistant City Prosecutor Edilbert Mendoza sa labas ng kanyang bahay.
Nag-eehersisyo si Mendoza, 48, sa labas ng kanyang bahay sa isang subdibisyon sa barangay Cabuco Trece Martirez City noong Biyernes, Disyembre 31, nang lapitan ng isang gunman mula sa likuran at sinimulan siyang barilin.
“The investigators will look into the cases handled by Fiscal Mendoza to establish if the motive of the crime is job-related,” ani Carlos.
Nakunan ng Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) ang pamamaril at kasalukuyang nirereview ito ng pulisya habang nagsasagawa ng imbestigasyon sa insidente.

Kabilang si Mendoza sa maraming abogado at miyembro ng hudikatura na pinatay sa nakalipas na limang taon.
“The PNP will take note of sensational cases that may warrant threat against the prosecutor’s life. Our investigators are gathering more evidence including the CCTV footage operating inside the subdivision,” ani Carlos.
“Persons of interest have been identified but we defer to premature disclosure to preclude any compromise in the investigation,” dagdag pa niya.
