Kinumpirma ito ni Cabinet Secretary at Acting Presidential Spokesperson Karlo Nograles sa isang pahayag nitong Martes, Disyembre 21, matapos na mas maunawaan ng Pangulo ang pinsalang dulot ng bagyo sa mga lugar sa Visayas at Mindanao.

“President Duterte also vowed to raise additional funds, estimated at P10 billion, for the rehabilitation and recovery efforts in the typhoon-affected areas. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected by this natural calamity,” ani Nograles.

Sa parehong pahayag, sinabi ni Nograles na si Pangulong Duterte, kasama sina Senador Bong Go, at iba pang opisyal ng gobyerno, ay natungo sa Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental noong Lunes upang bisitahin ang mga biktima ng bagyong Odette.

“The President was given a situation briefing by Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose ‘Bong’ Lacson, after which the President provided guidance and issued several directives to national agencies to address the immediate concerns of the local governments of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental,” ani Nograles.

“First, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will continuously provide family food packs and water and shelter assistance for families with damaged houses,” dagdag pa niya.

Ayon kay Nograles, sinabihan ni Duterte ang Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) at ang National Housing Authority (NHA) na magbigay ng housing assistance sa mga biktima na ang mga bahay ay labis na nasira.

Sa kabila nito, magbibigay ng ulat ang Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) tungkol sa pagtaas ng presyo, kabilang ang mga generator, na naiulat na ibinebenta nang doble sa karaniwang presyo nito.

Alinsunod sa mga utos ng Pangulo, magbibigay rin ng tulong ang Department of Agriculture (DA) sa mga apektadong magsasaka at mangingisda.

“Fifth, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will clear uprooted trees along the roads and highways and to turn over these logs to the local government units for use as housing construction materials, as well as provide the needed support for river dredging as soon as funds are available,” ayon kay Nograles.

Sinabihan rin ni Duterte ang Department of Energy (DOE) na mag-double time upang maibalik ang suplay ng kuryente sa mga apektadong lugar. At bilang panghuli, patuloy na nagtatrabaho ang  Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) upang maibalik ang telecommunication networks at internet connection sa apektadong rehiyon.
