Sa inisyal na estima ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), mahigit P178-M ang pinsala sa imprastraktura ang dulot ng Bagyong Odette sa mga lugar sa Visayas at Mindanao.
“We estimate about P178.4 million damage to our structures. These are only the roads and bridges, not included (are) the buildings, private structures,” sabi DPWH Undersecretary Emerson Benitezsa isang press briefing nitong Biyerns, Dis. 18.
Ayon sa ahensya, 16 road sections ang nanatiling sarado sa mga motorista – dalawa sa Central Visayas, isa sa Eastern Visayas, lima sa Northen Mindanao at walo sa rehiyon ng Caraga – dahil sa mga natumbang puno, pagbaha, pagguho ng lupa, madulas na kalsada, sirang tulay, at aksidente sa sasakyan.
Samantala, may limitadong daanan ang apat na road sections – isa sa Northern Mindanao at tatlo sa Caraga – dahil sa pagbaha at mga natumbang puno.

Lahat ng iba pang national roads at tulay sa ibang apekatadong rehiyon ay madadaanan na ng lahat ng uri ng sasakyan.
“Just an hour ago, we were able to release P100 million. This is going to be used to sustain our personnel on the ground, including the equipment. For Region 6 (Western Visayas), we releaseP20 million; Region 7 (Central Visayas), P20 million; Region 8 (Eastern Visayas), P20 million; Region 10 (Northern Mindanao), P10 million; and Region 13 (Caraga), P30 million. This is just an initial response, and we hope to have additional funds to be requested from the Department of Budget and Management,” sabi ni Benitiz.
Sa kabilang banda, sinabi ng Bureau of Maintenance Director Ernesto Gregorio Jr. na naka-deploy na ang mga kinakailangang kagamitan sa mga apektadong lugar habang naghahanda sila para sa clearing operations.
“Our quick response is to immediately open the roads. That’s the instruction of (acting) Secretary Roger Mercado, except for flooded areas and those road slip(s) and landslide(s),” dagdag niya.
