Pabor si Speaker Lord Allan Velasco na pahintulutan ng gobyerno ang pribadong sektor na bumili ng mga bakuna o COVID-19 vaccines nang direkta sa mga gumagawa o manufacturers ng mga ito.
Ayon sa kanya, dapat nang repasuhin ng pamahalaan ang patakaran tungkol saCOVID-19vaccine procurement at hayaan ang pribadong sektor na direktang bumili ng mga bakuna sa manufacturers.
Kinatwiran ni Velasco na malaki ang maitutulong ng pribadong sektor sa pamahalaan kaugnay ngCOVID-19vaccination program nito, at mapalalakas din ang mga pagsisikap na masiguro ang mabilis at episyenteng pagbabakuna sa mga Pilipino.
“Since there is now ample supply of safe and effectiveCOVID-19vaccines globally, it is time that the national government considers allowing the private sector to deal directly with manufacturers to ensure a more sustainable and dependable supply of life-saving vaccines for Filipinos,” anang Speaker.

Batay sa Republic Act 11525 o ngCOVID-19Vaccination Program Act of 2021, ang mga pribadong kompanya at local government units (LGUs) ay awtorisdadong bumili ng mga bakuna na binigyan ng emergency use authorization (EUA) sa pamamagitan ng isang kasunduan o tripartite agreement sa pambansang gobyerno, na kinakatawan ng manufacturers at ng Department of Health (DOH) at National Task Force AgainstCOVID-19(NTF).
Sinabi ni Velasco na bukas siya sa pag-aamyenda sa batas upang pahintulutan ang mga pribadong kompanya na tuwirang bumili ng mga bakuna para sa kanilang mga manggagawa at dependents.
Binigyang-diin niya na ang pagkakaloob ng awtoridad sa pribadong sektor na direktang bumili ngCOVID-19shots “will relieve pressure on government resources considering that vaccine procurement and administration entails a lot of logistical challenges."
“By granting the private sector greater participation in the vaccination campaign, the government can focus its resources on the inoculation of front-liners, uniformed personnel, and vulnerable sectors,” ani Velasco. “The amount the government will save can be channeled to efforts to help economic recovery post-pandemic.”
