Hinihikayat ang mga nangangambang Pilipino sa Europa na humingi ng tulong sa pinakamalapit na embahada ng Pilipinas sa kanilang mga lugar para sa kanilang repatriation, sabi ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) nitong Martes, Dis. 14.
Ito ang panawagan ni Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Sarah Lou Arriola sa gitna ng paglitaw ng bagong Omicron variant ng coronavirus disease (COVID-19) sa ilang bansa sa Europe.
“We encourage our distressed kababayan in Europe to contact our embassies the soonest in order for them to join in this repatriation flight,” sabi ni Arriola.
Sinabi ng opisyal na magtatalaga rin ang ahensya ng chartered flight na nakatakda sa Dis. 23 para mag-uwi ng mas maraming Pilipino mula sa Europa sa araw ng Pasko.

“The chartered flight is primarily to aid our distressed Filipino kababayan in European countries which are under the red list,” sabi ni Arriola.
“We will also extend the flight to distressed stranded Filipino passengers bound for the Philippines as a result of policies put in place to curb the effect of COVID-19 Omicron variant,”dagdag ng opisyal.
Inihayag din ng Foreign Affairs official na inaasahan nilang darating ang siyam na overseas Filipinos sa Russia sa Martes.
Ang mga repatriates, aniya, ay darating sa pamamagitan ng isang flight mula sa Amsterdam.
“The group met with economic difficulties following the pandemic’s negative impact on their livelihood and legal status in Russia,”sabi ni Arriola.
“We are relieved that our timely repatriation assistance has given them the chance to fly back to the Philippines,” dagdag niya.
