Isa sa 37 grupo ng mga petitioner na humamon sa konstitusyonalidad ng Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) of 2020 ay nagsabing igagalang nito ang desisyon ng Korte Suprema sa isyu.
“Whatever the final outcome, we as officers of the court are duty-bound to respect and accept the ruling. When necessary and appropriate, we shall regroup ourselves for the next steps and options,” sabi ng National Union of People’s Lawyers (NUPL) sa isang pahayag.
“At any rate, the people must always be relentless in pushing back against any real or perceived overreach of governmental power,” sabi ni NUPL President Edre U. Ulalia.

Ngunit hindi agad mailabas ang pasya at ang resulta ng 15 miyembro ng Korte Suprema.
“Considering that there were numerous issues resolved in the case, as well as the fact that each justice had to vote on each issue, there is a need to accurately confirm and tally the vote of each justice in order to ensure the correct resolution of the Court per issue,” sabi ng abogado at Tagapagsalita ng Korte Suprema na si Keith Hosaka sa isang pahayag.
Inaasahang isasapubliko ang desisyon ng SC hanggang Dis. 10, Biyernes.
Ang RA 11479 ay pinagtibay noong Hulyo 3, 2020 at ipinatupad makalipas ang 15 araw simula Hulyo 18, 2020.
Noong Peb. 2, nagsimulang magsagawa ng oral arguments ang SC sa mga petisyon na pinagsama-sama sa isang kaso.
Tiniyak ni Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo na ang desisyon sa 37 petisyon ay mailalabas bago magtapos ang 2021.
“The ruling will certainly reverberate across the land and beyond. Its substantive and procedural nuances, implications and repercussions, must be divined, dissected and digested well especially for the practical benefit of the people who simply refuse to let the dying of the light of our rights,” sabi ng NUPL.
Pinunto nitong “the much-awaited ruling will impact on us all as human beings, its implications and consequences on our basic civil and political rights to be felt beyond the here and now.”
Sa bahagi ng NUPL, sinabi ni Olalia na ang grupo ay magpapatuloy “to invoke adherence to the text and spirit of the Constitution, beseech compliance with basic legal rules and principles, and resolutely exercise our rights.”
“The people will continue to link arms to collectively fight back as one for a noble cause, particularly when there is a clash between the superiority of governmental power over essential rights that are the source of that power in the first place,” deklarasyon ni Olalia.
